Title: Toyota Recalls
Post by: Furious1Auto on February 23, 2010, 10:22:13 pm
Bought time they start reporting Toyo's recalls, is it timing? All of the sudden the U.S. government has a vested financial interest in the domestic automakers, and the media is full of negative reporting on the foreign competition. Beat the domestic line workers into taking concessions, then turn the tide in the media. It is nice to see the domestics getting praise, but it is disturbing that the media still has this much influence!

I was watching the Senators grilling the Toyota folks and I had to laugh.  I have seen the same scenario in many meetings at Ford. Basically the offender (Toyota in this case) pleads that they did everything they thought was necessary (excluding spending the money to fix the problem correctly) to address the problem.    Also struck me as interesting is that Toyota is only going upgrade the computer systems for the acceleration/braking issue on units for the North American market.  I guess product liability issues overseas are not an issue???
