It's been a hard road, and we still have work to do!

25th April 2008

Ford describes as “significant progress made on our plan to aggressively restructure to operate profitably” the achievement, which surprised some analysts, of first quarter 2008 net income of $100 million or 5 cents per share, up $382 million from a year ago.

they have the ranger, but are not using it to it's full advantage. they could sell cab and chassie, and things of this nature. they could advertise the ranger more than they do. the ranger is a good little work truck.

Another story in the FREEP today: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080531/BUSINESS01/805310319
I know we have heard this before but more select buyouts are coming. "Mulally said that the automaker will reveal a detailed action plan by late July." No new plant closures etc. but, "While Hinrichs suggested that Ford would not close more plants, he acknowledged that circumstances could change." The Fiesta will be built in Mexico and so on. The only good news was the Focus, which is expected to top the 30,000 sales mark in May.
