I was  checking on line for a gas tank filler pipe for my 98 explorer - actually , the plastic piece where the cap screws on has a couple cracks in it and  the engine light comes on. I read, in the process of hunting , that some of the 2008 Explorers have capless tanks. Does anyone know how that works?

Here is LINL to a site that explains it's origin, and how it works.

It so simple it seems stupid it was not put to use earlier, the same as push button start!
