I have seen it happen in my home town, and now it is happening in the next town over.
A city decides it wants to own and control a piece of property. Then they make an offer below market, and appraised values. When the owner refuses the offer then city council votes to impose "Eminent Domain" as a means of stealing property from private owners.
Could you imagine paying 30 years for a house, and thinking you are secure. Only to have the government to seize your property, pay you peanuts for it, and force you into a new mortgage at the new market values. This has got to stop!
