I was watching the Senators grilling the Toyota folks and I had to laugh.  I have seen the same scenario in many meetings at Ford. Basically the offender (Toyota in this case) pleads that they did everything they thought was necessary (excluding spending the money to fix the problem correctly) to address the problem.    Also struck me as interesting is that Toyota is only going upgrade the computer systems for the acceleration/braking issue on units for the North American market.  I guess product liability issues overseas are not an issue???
